MAN vs FISH : Skuad Palapes

So i started taking Amin@firstborn fishing early this month. He turned 5, so I figured it's about time I taught him the Facts of Life.....as a fisherman hehehehe

Here's some pics of him posing by the Kolam. Location is Danau Biru, Bangi as usual. I wanted him to score on his first time out, so took him somewhere familiar and sure-score (or so I thot!!)

So we got there around 10am. I had a fever the few days before so only decided to take him out when i started feeling better. Had the hati ayam umpan ready the day before (Amin sez "lutut ayam" for some reason??) and set out.

What can I say, he was enthusiastic as ever. But too bad the fishies weren't sharing his semangat and were just not biting. There was a bro sitting next to us who kept pulling up Pacu after Pacu, so it distracted him from our lack of luck and rezeki hehehe. But after 2 plus hours of nothing, he was getting bored and wanted to go home. My reputation and honour as a fisherman Dad was shaky. I remember praying for JUST ONE FISH......

Then Sifoo Ecol turned up to "bomb" his usual spot with Secret Recipe Dedak, then left to play chess for a while. Seizing the opportunity, I took up his spot and bit of dedak ( i smsed him, he said ok) and casted the bugger right in.

Wouldn't you know it...2 minutes later

ZZZZZIIIIIIIIIIIIIPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP

I HAD TO CHASE MY ROD CAUSE IT WAS ABOUT TO FLY INTO THE WATER!!! My flying rod knocked over some stuff into the water, I was busy holding on to the rod and calling him over, Amin didnt know wtf was going on heheheeh it was total chaos...but in a good way

So i helped him reel it in, just controlling the rod in case it flies into the water again. Amin held the rod and started reeling in like crazy and the fish was fighting him!! Really really fighting!! Twas Cool, i tells yah heheheeh

Amidst all the chaos, the other people at the kolam (incl. Sifoo Ecol) were watching my five-year old reeling his first fish in and started shouting encouragement and tips (" Jangan cepat sangat!!!" and "Baik Baik sikit...biar tali tegang") It was cool heheheh too bad i didnt have a free hand to take pics or video.

In the end, Alhamdulillah, he hauled up a good sized Rohu to the cheers of the on-lookers. I wanted him to pose with it but he was afraid of it wriggling and flip flopping hehehe. We packed up and left straight out. Ecol came by and I thanked him whole-heartedly for helping me tebus maruah seorang bapa hehehe.

On the way out, Amin asked "Apa saiz ikan ni, Abah" so we weighed it. Wouldnt u know it, it was 1 kg right on the money. Not bad for a first time out hehehe Better than I did on mine hehehe.

The fish was proudly displayed to all family members....then quickly dispatched with... Cleaned, Gutted and Deep Fried, then devoured.
This is a great pic. Ihsan looking on hehehehe

Alhamdulillah, I thank Allah for such beautiful bounty.

Such a proud Dad that day.

A couple of weeks after that we sneaked out from a family kenduri and went to Danau Biru again hehehe....Amin hauled in a Baung (chk out vid attached herewith) hehehe but then he lost it cuz he kept playing with the bakul and turns out it had a hole in it ......Grrrrrrrr

Ciao folks!!!
